Gmail not syncing on Nexus 7

Hi there,

I'm new here, and I sincerely hope this is the right place for my question...it's driving me nuts...

On October 27th at 1:35pm, my Gmail stopped functioning on my Nexus 7 tablet. i didn't notice for a couple of days, but the last successful sync was on that date, according to my tablet. So, I went to settings, then under accounts I clicked on Google. I then saw at the top, under accounts, my email address with a red sync symbol next to it and the notice "sync error." I clicked on that and it took me to a page where all my syncs are listed. Everything else is running smoothly, syncing with no problems, but under Gmail it says "last synced on 10/27/2012 13:15"

My next step was to turn the sync off, and then back on again. I get an error symbol and at the bottom of the page it says "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." I waited a few days and tried again, but to no avail. It's now been two weeks...and I'm beginning to wonder if it's ever gonna come back. 

Any ideas? I've become rather...addicted and dependent on my tablet. I love it SO much! But this loss of Gmail capability is a bit frustrating. Help?

Go to Settings>Accounts>Google> click on your email account and then hit the menu in the top right corner (three vertical dots).  Try the option to "Sync Now."  If that doesn't work, use the "Remove Account" option and then re-add the account.  Hopefully this works.  If not you're likely looking at a factory reset.

By the way, make sure you have a good conneciton to Wifi.  The signal meter should be filled in blue, not grey or empty.

PS: I had to do the uninstall - re-install of the account to make it work.

And it did.
