I'm David in Massachusetts. Definitely a techie, having started my personal computing life on an SD Sytems Z-80 Starter Kit while a math teacher in the 70s. Anyone else had one of those? I went for Android because of its openness (compared to ios) and the fact that it uses the Linux kernel. My desktop and laptop computers both run Ubuntu (Linux). As for Android, I started my Android life with a G-1 which has since been replaced by a Nexus S. Only had the Nexus 7 for a few months.

Welcome to the family David. Sounds like you have some good Android experience, hasn't Android come on leaps and bounds since the G1 days. Wish I had found it in those early days.
