Accessing TaintDroid
« on: April 17, 2013, 08:37:29 AM »
Is anyone using TaintDroid?
http://appanalysis.org/

Apparently it cannot be installed as a simple app. Does "LBE security master" do something similar? Anything else?

I'm quite concerned about the permissions issue in android, especially during updates. It is not practical to scrutinize app permissions especially when their descriptions are usually broad and vague.

An informative article on How Android Permissions Work.

A list of Android Permissions and what they mean.
I used to be crazy until I found out that insane pays more.

Where am I?  What am I doing in this handbasket?

Thank you.

The real question is how to block some permissions apps give themselves that I, as an end user, do not wish that app to have. LBE seems to help by blocking access to certain items (notifications, etc.) but there are many more that it doesn't address. Wish there was a way to limit permissions or access to items (address book, certain folders) that android apps give themselves.

I really wish someone knowledgeable would write an app like that.
