Solved/ Third party software can't find my music?
« on: September 15, 2012, 01:25:40 PM »
Hi,

My third party network streaming software can't locate my music files. My music files appear to be located in the android music player software. I am unable to find the location as to where these's files are stored. Please can somebody tell me the files location and a way to put these files into my empty music folder. Hopefully then my 3rd party software will find my music. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like all your music is loaded onto Google play and is on the server or or your computer. Did you move any music to the nexus since you have bought via the cable or by download?

Yes I have loaded music files through download and bluetooth but I need the files just to go straight into my music folder by default. I think it could be a Jelly Bean issue because I don't have this issue on my smartphone.

Download a file manager app like Astro and then you will have an easier time locating your folders and files

Most of the decent music players I have tried will locate your music pretty much automatically if you allow them to in settings. Power amp does for sure when you first start it up. They have a free version.
I would go nuts without a way to view all my files. It's like I have to know exactly what's on it at all times. A little OC I know. When I see a file that is not in a folder and I don't really know what it is.. It makes me crazy.

Yeah, agreed. Most music player do scan the devices memory and find any file extension that the player plays.
I also agree about using a File Manager, I too am a little OC about what's on my internal storage in my N7 and my S2. In fact I'd go as far as saying it's a must on the N7 because of the limited storage space.

Hi, I downloaded the Astro app and was very impressed with what it can do. I managed to find and copy and paste my all my music files into my music folder which was empty. Now my media streaming app can see all my music. Thanks a lot for your feedback.

Now I am going to see if I can get that Transformer film from Google to show up in my media streaming software. That would be so cool if I could make that happen.

Sounds like we have the same OCD JJ.
Sweet! I am glad to be able to help. I have multiple Gmail accounts so I had to play around to find the movie. It is under the one I originally registered with but not the one my play store card is connected too.

Yes I also don't like files that don't need to be there but I can't just go deleting files at random. A factory reset can also be too time consuming.

Yes, I'm obsessive about what's on my internal storage and regularly have a clean out. Mind you I only have about 3GB of storage left from the 11GB that my 16GB N7 provides and that's after a major cleaning session last night...

Are you using software for the clean up?

Just a file explorer and self gained knowledge of what's safe to remove...
