Bloatware?

(1/2) > >>

I've had a few Android phones but this will be my first tab.  I wonder how much software will be pre-loaded on the N7 that is not meant to remove.  I guess that anything can be removed if the tablet is rooted (?)  But all of my phones eventually seemed to slow way down the longer I owned them.  I'm sure that was mostly my fault from loading them up with various software but I'm hoping I can keep from doing that with the Nexus 7.  I don't think it matters whether I got the 8 or 16, either way one could easily blog it down with too many programs, correct?

S.Prime:
Yes rooting your new tablet will allow removal of bloatware, but make a nandroid backup with CWM after rooting and then remove your bloatware. You then have a double safety net allowing you a restore point, when or if your system becomes sluggish, but most importantly, the removal of pre-installed apps may prevent you from applying future Google updates for Jelly Bean, if the install script checks for the pre-installed apps.

Very good...  OK, I'm just going to get to know my stock N7 for a while before making any big changes.  Now if I can just resist the urge to load it up with every new app that comes along...

S.Prime:
Don't worry too much about loading apps, you can always remove them and then reload them from My Apps at Google Play.

LanceJ:
I like the new option in jelly bean to "disable" any app even the "bloat ware" or "uninstallable" preloaded apps... Once disabled it disappears from all the menus and screens except app management...
