I had to Install Twrp twice for it to work.

Installed it via GOO MANAGER which is in PLAY store.

Suggestion

At this point we have a very disjointed discussion of the advanced update for the rooted user, so brave ahead if you choose to do so, or exercise a bit of patience and wait for the update guide that we will post after the OTA drops and it can be evaluated or a flash install is developed at XDA, that is a less involved process.

I 'm stuck. Standard bootloader recovery fails because of the bug.  quick boot fails despite my reloading it twice. I even downloaded TWRP, and it doesn't go into recovery mode, either.

Caveat emptor. You may not be able to recover backups until a fix for this bug comes out.

Have you tried GooManager to reinstall TWRP, as CBers suggested?

This thread somehow reminds me of a bunch of kids at Christmas.  Can't wait to rip open the packages and see whats inside.

Very true, Tiny.

No, S. Prime.  I couldn't find TWRP in the Goo Manager download lists.  I ended up flashing CWM 6.0.1.0, and its boot to recovery option works for me.  I'm copying my Nandroid 4.1.2 backup now to my USB flash drive and my laptop's hard drive.

You need to click on the menu icon and select INSTALL OpenRecoveryScript. It will then download TWRP and install it.

Let's rephrase that to, "a group that appreciates the challenge of technology." Which is less suggestive of, "Boys and their toys." 8)

birdastrompgman I am in the say boat as you, can't get to stock recovery or custom recovery.  I have tried Goo Manager, TWRP, ROM Manager, you name it.  I guess we'll have to wait for a guru to figure this out.  I have 4.1.2 installed and rooted, everything works fine, just no way to get to recovery for me.

I'm no gURU, but I believe we need to renamed the \system\recovery-from-boot.p file.

Installing TWRP seemed to do the trick as I found it renamed the file, so I moved in whilst in recovery mode.

It's non-writeable which is why it can't be renamed/moved in normal mode.

I did do several (cold) re-boots between upgrading and installing TWRP a 2nd time.

Try at your own risk and you have to have adb installed on your computer and start from the directory where adb is installed:

Connect tablet to PC and enable USB debugging (Settings >Developer Options > check box for USB debugging).

adb shell

mv /system/recovery-from-boot.p /system/recovery-from-boot.p.bak

jpcalhoun & CBers, et al,

I got to recovery by flashing Clockworkmod 6.0.1.0.

I renamed /system/recovery-from-boot.p, but it didn't help.

I have an unrooted N7 and the 4.1.2 update came today. There was a message to that effect in my notice bar and I just followed the prompts. All went well. My location (not sure if it's significant) is Ontario, Canada.

During the upgrade process it also 'optimized' my various apps - not sure why.
