There once was a fellow named Jay
Who buggered his Nexus one day
At least it wasn't bricked because three days later he's finally fixed it and he's a happy fellow again...

Honestly I'm not 100% sure, I installed and uninstalled the drivers several times and updated then manually in device manager in my W7 laptop but tried to boot to recovery via NRT but it kept telling me I couldn't with the correct drivers?
I uninstalled the drivers again, reinstalled and updated them again and tried to flash the factory image via NRT, the pop up saying rebooting to bootloader appeared but it didn't reboot. Then I get a pop up saying something about not being able to flash the factory image without being in the bootloader so I rebooted into bootloader manually and pressed okay...to my surprise NRT flashed the stock factory image...

I was surprised but thrilled at the same time...

Updated to 4.1.2, rooted with NRT and resorted my backed up internal memory. Just need to restore one of my back ups now...

:D

FFS!!!

It's happened again...

I've just tried restoring my nandroid of CM10 and the Wi-Fi has broken again...

Why???

I'm ditching TWRP and going to try CWM again, once I've flashed the factory image tonight after work.

EDIT- Restored the nandroid of stock/rooted 4.1.2 and Wi-Fi is working again??
Now restoring CM10 again...

EDIT2- Wi-Fi Is broken again, restoring 4.1.2...

I am so confuzzled it's unreal...

The backup I restored last week when the Wi-Fi broken I used the night I fixed my Nexus 7 and it flashed fine, this was my ROM before running CM10 for 5 days.
Today though it breaks the Wi-Fi as does my CM10 backup but the backup I made the night I fixed my Nexus 7 (4.1.2 stock, rooted, no apps) restored fine and fixed the Wi-Fi. And the backup I made today if my stock ROM also breaks the Wi-Fi...

This makes no sense....my head hurts...

JayJ do you think it is. TWRP or another issue?

Could it be a hardware problem? I guess it is possible. The common thread though leads back to TWRP Nandroid backups.

Honestly, I don't know?

Part of me thinks if it's recurrent then it's hardware but I don't think it's random enough to be hardware. It could be TWRP but wouldn't miss people have had this problem?
I did notice something this afternoon whilst restoring backups, when restoring the system at the end of the restore and error occurred...

E: unable to unmount system.

This was the same every time I restored and the Wi-Fi was broken, the only backup that didn't have this error was the stock rooted 4.1.2 with no apps.
What's really frustrating is the backup I restored the night I fixed my Nexus 7 does this too, it's also the one that broke the Wi-Fi in the first place last week. I can't even restored the backup I made today before trying to restore my CM10 backup...

Aarrrgggghhhhh...my heads hurting again...

I am guessing that it is due to an app. Do you have any WiFi file sharing. or hotspot the apps?

I think it's hardware - probably the wi-fi module failing as it heats up.  I find it hard to believe your 4.1.1, TWRP, CWM, amd 4.1.2 TWRP and CWM restores all have issues.  When you get the one 4.1.2 restore that you think works, I'll bet wi-fi will fail if you use your N7 for a day.

OMG...

Flashed a 12th October build of CM10 and Wi-Fi was working, restored my stock backup (the one that originally broke Wi-Fi), I got no error and Wi-Fi is working...

I'm still confuzzled...but leaving it as is for now...
