FORCED install of 4.1.2 with Rooted Nexus7
« on: October 13, 2012, 05:50:26 PM »
In a nutshell I deleted the last line of text that I had added to the
build. prop for rotation. Saved and temporarily unrooted with OTA RootKeeper. I then went into Apps/ ALL and forced the update by opening Google Services Framework/ Force stop/ clear data/force stop. I then went to about device and update. The date should read Dec of 1969. Tap update once or twice and it should start the process. After updating I restored root with OTA ROOTKEEPER.
I hope this helps someone.

I lost my custom recovery. I just had to reflash the old bootloader with WUGS ToolKIT for it to install TWRP. I tried several times with Rom Toolbox but it wouldn't stick before I read about the fix on WUGS thread at XDA..

I had no such problems in either my installs of 4.1.2, and yes I installed it twice.
Once I had fixed my N7 with a clean install of the factory image I got a notification of the update and applied it on my non-rooted N7, I then used the NRT to root and install TWRP recovery. Once I did this I backed up with TWRP and and restored my original stock ROM of 4.1.1 and used the update zip to update to 4.1.2, now I forgot to user Voodoo and lost root so used NRT again to root and install TWRP recovery...

I'm not sure of the rhyme or reason why it happened but it has been good practice for me going thru these repetitions.
