automatic download - xvideos.com
« on: October 12, 2012, 09:12:35 AM »
My tablet is open use for some family and friends. I am getting an automatic download in my notification bar for xvideos.com followed by a bunch of alphanumeric characters.  In my initial research I found out this is a porn site. I cannot find these files on my tablet nor can I stop them from being downloaded.  How do I get rid of this (outside of not letting friends use the tablet, the obvious).

THANK YOU!!!

Kuda

I would be very uncomfortable with anything having that much access to my tablet, so suggest a factory reset, to make sure that it is removed.

That troubles me as well.  There is only a couple of apps that have that kind of access to my tablet, and since they are security apps, they are supposed to, and I have tight control on them as well.

It's sounds to me like a malicious application is the cause of this, either perform a factory data reset as Prime suggested or check the applications installed and their permissions to find the culprit and uninstall it.

JJ is probably right.  Another technique is to start your tab in safe mode, and install the apps one by one until you find the culprit.  It's time consuming but thorough.

Hmm, very interesting arborij, thanks!  I didn't know about 'safe mode'.
