Turning on/off screen
« on: November 01, 2012, 06:25:05 AM »
Hi,

Is there a way in tapping the screen when it goes to sleep without having to press the on/off power button each time?  It's a bit frustrating when it goes to sleep and having to unlock it each time to get back in.

Thanks.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but you can change the screen lock time delay in settings > security > automatically lock, from its immediate or short default time to 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 30 minutes, etc.

I'm not running stock Android 4.1.2, so your settings menu route might be different, but there is a way to get there in 4.1.2.

I solved this issue by buying a magnetic case.  (I paid 10 bucks, nio tax and free shipping)  I was worried that the switch would give out with repeated use.   The magnet in the case cover toggles the sleep (screen) function.  closed = sleep, open = active

My magnetic case puts my Nexus 7 to sleep, and since I have automatic lock turned on, I'm forced to enter my PIN every time I take it out of the case. I assume since the OP turned automatic lock on, he/she wants to keep it on.

I bought my case before I got my Nexus 7, and before magnetic cases were available. I just taped a refrigerator magnet to a strap. Works great
