How to disable firmware update messages
« on: November 23, 2012, 04:50:42 PM »
Some of the apps didn't worked anymore after the update from 4.1 to 4.2
I used the nexus root toolkit to flash the tablet back to android 4.1.2
Is there a possibility, with the firmware from android 4.1.2 (JZO54K), to disable the message for performing a firmware update.

You'll keep receiving update notices as long as you're running 4.1.2.  You can flash a custom ROM, or hack the ROM iD and/or build number bytes to make the problem go away.

You'll need to be rooted in order to get into the system folder then follow directions on the XDA thread. It has the file and instructions on how to take care of it.

Thanks for the info freakshow999 !!!
I will try the solutions tomorrow.
I searched for "firmware update" messages to find a solution, but i had to search for OTA (noted for nexttime).

Do I have to close/remove the topic?

Leave it up. It might save the next person some searching.

I'm not the lowest of the low, but I am the slowest of the slow.

Just followed the solution from mikebz5. (after unlocking and rooting)

Downloaded the Autorun manager, executed the app, enabled system settings, used advanced options, searched for google framework, clicked on it, disabled  com.google.android.gsf.update.SystemUpdateService, and the nagging was over.

Thanks for the great support!
