I am still searching high and low trying to fix my lag. It can get really bad. I actually crash now from freezing sometimes.

Did you ever try clearing the launcher cache?

As frustrating as it can be I've learnt clean installs are always the best way whether flashing custom ROM's or updating existing ones...

I used to hold that record! I reboot several times a day now. I am planning a maintenance wipe in the next day or so and going to start fresh with the new update. If I have to play my music from South Dakota I will let you know.

When it's lagging, check system/apps/running. How much free ram?

I hate to open up a can of worms unless its time to fish or cut bait (lying, worms are yummy) but I have found task killers to be useless. I've found some success with programs like system tuner or auto memory manager that tweak the built in memory management to free up more ram. Amm is a bit more newbie proof but I haven't tried it on the nex7.

If you need to stop or disable a rogue app, it's more effective to do it from system/apps imao.
My nex7 isn't lagging, so you're the guinea pig.

Matt I will do that. When you say rogue app, could that be a well known app like eBay or are you talking about some random one that I picked up on a corner somewhere? I use plenty of protection! I swear. Seriously though, I am very cautious about what I install. I don't use active wallpaper and on occasion use 1 small widget for my battery. I have already tried ditching the battery app and it is no longer a suspect. I run my machine very lean. I bet I don't have one app on here that you have not heard of. Well maybe 1 or two Karaoke players. They don't run unless I am using them at that moment though.

Rubber nexus 7 cover? See what's using ram in system/apps/running. Google play, appstore and others keep running even after killing them. Also some push ad stuff. Wiping the saved state programs with the double square icon doesn't always free up memory. I had 470 MB free then cleared that list, checked again and it was 320 MB. (Clear the list by swiping apps off the screen or long press delete)

Don't really have the answers, just starting the argument. Consensus?

I never close apps like that. I thought this system is supposed to handle its business when it comes to managing ram. That why I don't own a task killer.

This right after a reboot. My radio app was there too but I shut it down.

Looks like you're good on free ram at that time. Get below 200 MB and see lag.

You never delete the multitask/saved state programs? The icon next to home. Try it next lag. It is part of the os, unlike task killers.
