Hi all,

First post on these forums and I hope this post is in the right area!

I'm wanting to pick up a Nexus 7 this week. One of the things I want to do is run the N7 as a wireless mp3 player (via bluetooth) and stream the music to a set of bluetooth headphones (looking at the LG Tone+ HBS-730). Basically I want to stick the N7 in my backpack with bluetooth on, and listen to my music wirelessly while on the bus or walking to work.

Now I understand that bluetooth audio won't be quite as good as wired audio, but is the N7 bluetooth audio reliable and decent enough quality to use as an mp3 player? I don't really care about the microphone, skype VOIP sort of thing; just the audio part.

Just want to know if it is worth it before I drop $70 on a wireless set of headphones.

Just as a note, I've never used bluetooth audio before, I'm upgrading from a few year old ipod touch with crappy walmart headphones; heck I don't even have a cell phone heh.

Thanks!

Might be worth searching the forums, as I believe that there is a problem with BT audio under latest version of OS (Jelly Bean 4.2.1).

Haven't tried it myself.

Ah I see that, thank you.

I guess I'll ask this question again once the BT is patched properly, and I will hold off on buying a headset for now.

If it was working properly, should the audio be decent quality for music?

Yeah before this latest update it worked really well and the only problem I've had with it now is that it won't stream with WiFi on.

Excellent. So once the bluetooth issues are addressed (which I assume they will in the near future), bluetooth audio is worth listening to. Yay I will be free from cords!

Lol you are correct. Motorola just released their S11 model too BTW.

Hello Ivan
I personally would hold off on any type of major purchase of any type of bluetooth speaker or headset etc for use with Jellybean right now. That is just my HO. Although everyone doesn't seem to have the same issue, the new update seems to have really made it tough to listen to or watch video comfortably using bluetooth and wifi. From past experience with Android, I am confident that the BT issues are a priority and will be fixed soon. You could probably test it at an store that has a speaker display and see if you are one of the lucky ones.

Sounds good. Thank you for the advice. That gives me a bit of extra time to research bluetooth headsets.

That being said, I couldn't find it, but is there any thread on here for headset reviews?

Which one do you guys recommend?  Like I said looking for best possible audio.  I would like under $100. And I do like earbuds.  I was looking at the LG Tone+ HBS730, but I hear the bluetooth range is terrible, and even cuts out when you stick it in your pocket.  I might try the LG Tone HBS700.

Is there any other ones I should check out?

That's a great thread. Thanks very much for linking that!  Sounds like the LG Tone HBS700 is the way to go.

Thank you!

What are you using the headphones for? Exercise or just lounging around? In ear? Over ear? I know the Sony over ear headphones are sweet and so are the Motorola S10s so I would assume the S11s are nice too.

Thanks for the reply. It'll be for my commute to work, both a 30 minute walk and a 20 minute bus ride.

Right now I'm using a 30 dollar set of Panasonic earbuds
(Panasonic)
and these sounded pretty good.

I like the idea of the earbuds (and my Panasonic ones feel quite nice in my ear), which have a little bit of cord. That's why I was looking at the LG Tone.  Someone on XDA linked me the Bluebud X
(Bluebud)
and that looks sweet. Though I'm not sure of the price, and I'm looking under $100

*EDIT: Nevermind the bluebuds are $170 heh. Almost as much as a N7*

I've never liked lg and every love platronics headphones. Its been a while since I priced any headphones out. I thought I wanted Bluetooth until I tried the Bose wired ear buds and fell in love.

I've never listened to a better set of earbuds until I used my wifes Beats by Dre buds. They came with her phone, but probably worth the $150.

I am surprised to hear that the Dre buds are that good. I respect your opinion Loocid so I am going to check them out. I see the counterfeit ones being sold all the time on Craigslist and the streets of Philly. I think that gave me a preconceived notion that they sucked. Short minded I admit. Although, I am a Klipsch guy.
