How to stop redirect to mobil sites?
« on: December 07, 2012, 12:02:18 PM »
I have been using a Dell Streak for a year, and just got this Nexus 7, and I like it, but it keeps redirecting me to mobile sites.  The Streak never did that.  I am using the default Chrome browser.  Is there a setting somewhere that will stop this annoying redirect?

There's no simple fix, since there are so many different ways for websites to detect mobile devices, and they're changing every day.

I know this can be annoying, buy I try to make there best of it. Remember that the mobile sites are designed for your convenience. If there's a feature that you cannot access, there's usually a link to the desktop version.

I use Chrome for mobile sites and xScope Pro if I want to view desktop sites.

Try Dolphin and Boat browsers they both have settings for Desktop User Agent . For Chrome  tap the 3 dots upper right  and check Request desktop sight.
If you sideload Flash player it will work with Boat .

Great - thanks - I think that might do it.  I had not known about the "Request Desktop Site" and I had googled this everywhere.   ::)

I also have downloaded the Dolphin browser and I will give that a shot.

Many of these mobile sites are almost worthless...I suppose for a smartphone they are okay, but not on a tablet. One would think that the web developers would know this by now.
