OK only had my N7 for one day, but have forgotten the logon password...I am sure doing a factory reset is the easiest solution, but directions on the only site I can find are not working ... they seem to be written for the nexus phone :-[
Any ideas where else I can look?

I don't have mine yet, but from what I have read, power down your N7, then hold down vulome up +volume down +power at the same time and you will access system recovery. Use volume up and volume down to scroll up and down and press the power button to select. Scroll down to "System Reset"  the terminology my be a bit different but select that option and then confirm. After the system reboots, you will be back to factory state and all installed apps and data are removed.

I don't have my N7 yet for reference, but is the password the same as you use on your Google account?  If so you might need to reset it there, but if the N7 has its own password yeah a hard reset might be your best bet.

My only experience with an Android tablet to date is the Kindle Fire, and it has a password that's set to lock the screen, which if that's what you're referring to a factory reset is the only option as far a I know.

Based on your post from the other thread:

The same thing happened to me. What you need to do is reboot ur N7 by holding the volume down and the power button only for 10 seconds.
It will reboot
once rebooted you need to go to the play store and download ROM manager.
After ROM manager is installed you will be able to reboot into recovery by selecting that option on the first page of the app
Problem solved ; )
Assuming you can still download from the play store. Once you get to recovery just continue with step 5

what would the reboot look like? When I press vol down and power, the lying down android comes on the screen in less than 10 seconds, and I'm back to where I started Sorry to sound like a newb, but this just isn't making sense to me.

What holding the volume down and power for 10sec is know as a hard boot and it should bypass everything and reboot the device it is similar to a battery pull so the next time you get the red triangle android I want you to attempt hard boot

No,, not rooted.... and I have never seen the 'droid with the red triangle. Apparently that's the problem...Not getting to that part of the restore routine.

If you have set a screen lock pass key, read my post at the beginning of this topic and try that first. If you are not rooted, which I seriously doubt, once you get to the stock recovery you can reset your tablet and the screen lock password will be gone. If you cannot access recovery, you need to install SDK and use adb commands to load the recovery. Which is "adb reboot recovery".
