Great news folks!  MediaFire, one of the leading cloud storage solutions that's sent shockwaves through the iOS world has come to Android and as a starting gift you get 50GB of storage absolutely free by registering.  Now that's 50GB folks...and this isn't some teaser offer for 6 months that you'll have to start paying for down the line.  It's genuinely free!  No credit card even required.

Like some of its competitors like DropBox, Box.net and even our trusty Google Drive, MediaFire let's you upload and download content...pretty much anything including video, music and document files and it lets you stream them to your heart's content.   A great way to share large files or watch that movie on your Nexus 7 and not have to worry about saving it locally.  Now while the 50GB is free there are certain limitations to the service, some of which will probably be fixed in the future either free or perhaps for an added fee.  One such limitation is the inability to batch upload.  Everything must be uploaded by itself which could conceivably be time consuming if you had say a whole gallery you wanted to save.   There's also no file/folder sync option so again things need to be updated manually.

Now of course there's Pro and Business accounts available for a fee.  But as long as you're ok with the limitations, that 50GB seems awful tempting to snag.  Link down below so go snag that 50GB!

I installed this a couple days ago, 50GB is a nice mount amount of storage but the apps isn't on par with the likes of Dropbox, Drive or even Box.
It's a first release for Mediafire so hopefully we'll see more options with future updates.

My cloud storage...

Dropbox 105+GB
Drive 5GB
Box 55+GB
Skydrive 7GB
Asus Web storage 5GB
Jottacloud 75GB
Mediafire 50GB

The only one that isn't free is the Dropbox, I use it regularly so pay for the 100GB. Not so sure I need it now...

Search Jottacloud on here, there's a link for extra storage.

I looked at MediaFire but what I don't like abut the free account is that there is a max file size of 200MB.  You'd have to pay for their "Pro" Plan to be able to store files up to 4G in size.  I was hoping to be able to stream movies from MediaFire to my N7 but 200M is too small of a file size for that and 4.50/month is more than I would be willing to pay to be able to have larger file sizes.

Congratulations JayJ.  Realizing you have an addiction is the first step.  I forget what the second step is.
I used to be crazy until I found out that insane pays more.

Where am I?  What am I doing in this handbasket?
