Flaky lock screen feature?
« on: March 15, 2013, 06:41:20 PM »
Has anyone who uses a cover with their Nexus 7 and who has enabled the lock screen experienced any problems?

When I open the cover and the device automatically turns on, I'm frequently *not* prompted to enter the PIN until many minutes later, if at all. And after I enter the PIN, I'm sometimes prompted to enter it again a few minutes later. This is a vulnerability that exposes my device's apps and data to anyone who opens the cover.

If I take off the cover and then use the physical power switch to power up the device, I'm consistently prompted for the PIN. So the problem seems to be related to the device's support of the cover auto on/off feature.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

I would suggest that the magnet that controls the power feature could be the issue. Press the power button before closing the case and see if the issue does not reoccur when opening the case, you could try a different case.
