App required to open/view email-attached jpgs?
« on: March 19, 2013, 04:12:25 PM »
Looking for the right app to view photos emailed as attachment. Searched the app store for "photo viewers" but they don't seem to be right for the job.

Thanks

Once you select to open the attachment you will be given the option to open it with the app of your choice once or always. You can simply select "Gallery" or if you have "Astro File Manager" you will be given the option to open in the Astro Image Viewer.

If I open the email, I get a choice of Message or Attachment. I select Attachment. I then geta choice of the name of the file (a jpg in this case) and "info". Touching the attachment name does nothing - it's not active. So, I select (touch)" info" and get:

Attachment info - There is no app that can open this attachment. Try downloading etc etc.

I downloaded Nexus Photo viewer and, of course there is Gallery. but the Attachment info message curtails any further action.

Thanks for your first answer - any further ideas?

Which email app are you using? Your tablet comes with 2 of them.

I have yahoo, hotmail and a pop3 mail address on the "email" ap and googlemail on that app. Googlemail deals with attachments OK but most of the mail I get with important attachments comes to the pop3 account, which, incidentally, I can't get to Send emails from the Nexus, it only receives. That's a different issue to my originalone  but is important also.

thanks

My pop3 account was auto  configured based on my email address. (.att) It's working fine, perhaps the wrong server info on yours?

When I access my email attachments, I often have to download them first and open from the download folder. A jpeg though, should show up in the body of the email when you click 'show pictures'. The tablet probably defaults to not downloading attachments because of limited storage space.

Update: just checked, the email was setup as imap not pop3. It's pop3 on my other computers. Long as it works.
