Apps on both phone and tablet.
« on: February 27, 2013, 07:20:00 AM »
I have a nexus 7 and a S3 LTE.
And I pretty much have similar apps on both devices.
Some apps I just like to have it in case I need it on the go...

Do you guys do the same?
What apps you only run on one and not the other?
And what apps do you always have on both?

Yes, many of my apps are on both my tablet and phone.  That's why I prefer to use Google Play from my windows machine's browser.  I can tell it which of my devices to install the app on, much handier than having to go to Google Play on each device and install the app.

I have several crossover apps that are installed on my S3 and my Nexus 7, but Enhanced Email is my must have app for both devices. EE handles Exchange, Imap, and Pop accounts without issues on either device. I do use different versions of SwiftKey for each device and with the release of Tapatalk HD I now use different versions of that app it is not essential.

Hi prime

I long ago purchased and use SwiftKey 4 on both my phone and my Nexus 7 tablet. I know there is a tablet version and don't mind supporting the developer but I have not used it because I can't see an advantage and it lacks some useful tools like the left, right, up, and down keys that I find so useful in the phone version.

Since you use both versions, could you advise why the tablet version is better for a tablet like the Nexus 7?

(One feature neither one has and that I wish they had is a tab key on the main keyboard. It is unfortunately only available two keyboard changes away).

The main feature that I find useful on the tablet version of SwiftKey is the split or thumb keyboard option when typing in landscape, although I will admit that it is more beneficial on a larger tablet like my Nexus 10. I honestly would prefer that the arrow keys on the tablet version were shown on the first screen instead of the third one, but it remains that way. I bought both versions on sale so I can't complain, but honestly for Nexus 7, if you don't like the split keyboard, then it is probably not worth the money for the tablet version.

Thanks. That's what I thought, even after downloading and trying it.
Thank you for the input.

I have a mostly the same apps on both my Nexus 7 and Nexus 4, things like Tapatalk, MX Player, System Monitor, Franco kernel updater, Dropbox and Airdroid.
Mostly though because it has more storage and screen size I use my Nexus 7 as a media device to watch You Tube, Movies and play Games so I have more apps on the 7.
I don't any 3rd part keyboard on either devices, I'm happy with the gesture tipping on the stock keyboard and I didn't get on with Swiftkey (bought on sale), if I'm typing on my 7 I tend to use it in portrait anyway but that's the beauty of Android... user customisation.
