Hi there guys, it's me Yoshi with GREAT NEWS! I finally rooted my device ( easily with NRT ) on 4.2.2 and after knowing that the stock kernel sucks for overclocking, guess what? Installed the Motley kernel with TWRP ( easily yet again ). I noticed in games that WHOOOA! it's fast as hell too. In the browser the scrolling feels ALOT faster and responsiveness has been improved too. I'm also surprised about this because it's quite easy to do, even for a 11 year old guy like me in a very short time. I was expect tons of bootloops and my device being a new paperweight for my homework, BUT no it made my life ALOT faster and saved myself from crying over my dead 7'. It's also value here because, here in the Philippines we actually ( brace yourselves ) PAY for root and unlocking of devices in "tiangges" = cheap gadget stores and stuff. So yeah, thanks for reading my GREATEST achievement of this summer season. :-) :-) :-)

You gotta love the ease of rooting a Nexus but be warned, overclocking is going to effect your battery life, cause heat and wear your chipset quicker... stock is plenty fast enough for me...
What you should try is a custom ROM and I recommend Paranoid Android...

Update: I'm testing the kernel on 1.6 ghz and currently running CyanogenMod 10.1 RC2 and maybe later the Paranoid Android rom will be flashed. Loving the root access.

Can you boot to recovery or the bootloader?? Power off, hold volume down and the Power button until booted...

Drop the overclocking, as it often causes unreliability problems like this.

Can you cable your N7 to your PC and run fastboot and adb from the NRT directory on your PC with the command(s) fastboot devices or adb devices?  Do either of them return your device serial number?  If so, you can recover your N7.

Hi there guys I'm here again for a NEW update here, I also tried Franco.Kernel but I didn't like it, it seems to drain the battery faster than stock EVEN without OC'ing it. I then looked up some other kernels for it ( mostly battery concerned too ) and found  M-Kernel. It's great IMO all around because it does GREAT battery life, even with a bit of over clocking  ( 1.5 ghz ) and has nice performance too. Also I downloaded Real Racing 3 and it has VERY FAST fps. Down the road I might revert to stock clock speed and have a bowl of cereal ( no, not tea I'm 11 ) then be happy with it. I also included the Nexus 4 in my root mania and currently has a custom kernel too. Thanks for reading guys. ##YoshiDrei##

I'm running M-kernel, too,  Yoshi. You are phenomenal for an 11 year old!

I'm not the lowest of the low, but I am the slowest of the slow (49.3 mpg over 45k miles in  Scion xB)
