According to a report out of the 'Digitimes', Google is planing on a 2nd generation Nexus 7 for a July delivery and furthermore plans not to compete in the 'battle to the bottom' of pricing against other tablet manufacturers.  While it will leave the iPad Mini for the high end it plans on targeting the middle while leaving Asus and Acer to sell to the under $149 price point.  The article goes on to predict that a 16GB model of the new Nexus 7 will list for $229, which is $30 above the current 16GB price but $20 lower than when the current 16GB model was introduced.  It doesn't say if a 8GB model will be available, although we have our doubts.  Pricing of a 32GB model is also not mentioned.

Rumored specs of the new Nexus 7 2 as it is being called include a Full HD 1920 x 1200 display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, which would make this quite the beast of a tablet.  The following quote from the article sums up how the reporter says Google's thoughts on pricing are.  You can read the entire article at the link below.

As first-tier brand vendors have been trying to expand their sales through price cuts, Google is not looking to follow suit, but will instead focus on defending the US$199-249 segment of the 7-inch tablet market and target competitors such as Amazon and Apple, the sources said.
