can i remove the google search bar from my home screen and i can how do i go about it cheers

You cannot remove it from the stock launcher, you could install a 3rd party launcher from the Play store. Something like Nova Launcher, Apex Launcher, Holo Launcher, Action Launcher etc etc...

Just out of curiosity, why would you buy a Google tablet with IMHO the best search engine and want to remove it?

thanks for replies. i dont want to remove google search from my device (its the only one i use on my phone and pc) it just seems to spoil the picture i put on home screen. i do not understand what is meant by 3rd party launchers

The Launcher is a combination of activities on your tablet, the homescreen and app tray being too two primary parts.
Simply install a Launcher from the Play store to replace the stock launcher and this has more customisation than the stock launcher.

Try Nova Launcher...

I understand now. I keep some apps and an occasional widget on my home screen. I don't go for the sterile environment.
