Although not technically a part of 4.3 my best part of the presentation (yes I watched it live) was Chromecast, that's some really cool stuff... Otherwise the restricted profiles is brilliant for letting the kids play on my N7...

I will have to agree with JayJ, the Chromecast device was sweet, in fact I ordered one today from Amazon. At this point it will not display local content from your device, but with the release of the SDK, I believe we will see an app for local content very soon. $35 US and free shipping was too good to pass up.

Unfortunately it's not available here in the UK yet, hopefully we won't have to wait as long as we did for o other Google services or worse still accessories like the still not available Qi charger for the Nexus 4...

Finally, something new for the Nexus 7!

I'm not the lowest of the low, but I am the slowest of the slow (49.3 mpg over 45k miles in  Scion xB)

Bird has seen >650 North American bird species
Rooted Nexus 7
49.5 mpg avg for 53k miles in non-hybrid Scion xB
Retired 9 yrs, and loving it

Yeah I see no reason why not but avoid eBay because people are just out to make money and anywhere else you'll have UK Import charges because it's outside the EU...

Cool.

Should be able to access my videos via MEDIABROWSER3 if I use my DDNS address.

My Chromecast shows ordered from Amazon.com, but they are "Not Able" to show a shipping date at this time and I am to be notified by email when a ship date is available. I will post any status changes, as it may indicate when stock is available.

Does chromecast actually receive any files from a tablet or computer, or does it just get a link to the same web content displayed in either? In other words, is it reliant on the web, or can it be used without web access?

Chromecast does require a WiFi connection to the Internet,  so basically your phone, tablet, laptop, or computer acts as a remote control that accesses allowed internet content, from sources like Google Play music and videos, Netflix, and YouTube. As stated, you cannot play local content stored on your device, at this time, but look for it in the future.

Thanks Dominic but I'm in the UK so no Best Buy here, Nexus 7 2013 and Chromecast aren't going to be available here for a few months...
