I got my Titanium backup files back on my N7 with MTP, but Titanium doesn't get SuperSU permission for root access.  It's pretty sketchy.  I may restore my Paranoid Android Nandroid backup.

Thanks, JayJ.  I went back to 4.2 rooted.  It will be easier to upgrade in a few weeks, after the developers work out the teething issues with 4.3.

Update : I'm back to 4.3, and fully rooted. I followed this procedure to manually root my Nexus 7.  I pushed Busybox to my N7 with Mark Skippen's Google Nexus 7 Toolkit
