File Manager Recommendation ?

(1/1)

gp123:
Looking for an easy-to-use N7.2 file-manager, primarily to help move files from PC (Win7) to Nexus (JB 4.3); rearrange/rename folders, etc.
Happy to get your recommendations.  Thanks

I'm using a rooted Nexus 7.1 on 4.3, and am disappointed with almost all methods of moving files to and from my Windows 7 PC.  MTP is seriously sketchy  i get errors with Windows Explorer and with ADB push/pull commands. Files that seem to transfer correctly are filled with errors, and fail checksum checks. MTP leaves Windows Explorer showing files that were deleted or moved, or not showing files that are present.

Try using a wi-fi file transfer program, or (if rooted) using a USB flash drive or SD card as a transfer device. The latter method is what I used

FWIW, I use ES File Explorer & Root Explorer.

Seems to me that I was able to easily transfer a bunch of mp3 music files between W7 and N7(2012) by interconnecting via USB and then using drag n drop.  Have not tried this with other files.

Now with N7(2013) looking for an editor to tidy things up

For on device file management, use Astro or ES for file management

As Bird said, you will find drag and drop using Windows file explorer to a MTP device like the Nexus 7 to be frustrating and error prone, especially with large amounts of data. I find a rooted solution like StickMount or ADB push or pull to be the best alternatives.
