One Tiny Little Dead Pixel
« on: August 19, 2013, 06:11:41 PM »
Hi all,

Just got my new 32gb Nexus 7 2013 last Tuesday 8/13, and today, Monday 8/19, I noticed a VERY TINY dead pixel. Now, being a perfectionist, of course it's upsetting me, of course it shouldn't, but it does. Just wondering, can this tiny dead pixel cause other tiny dead pixels ? Should I return my Nexus 7, or is there a way to fix dead pixels ? Whattya think ?

Where is it is probably the $269 question. Dead pixels as far as I know don't mutate.  Fix?  Yes. Take it back for something else than one bad pixel. Usually there are stipulations for dead pixels in warranty language.. Depends how many and where they are. Not sure about the Nexus.

Well, I guess I should be more descriptive of my problem. I'm not sure if it's a deap pixel, or a stuck pixel, since I'm not an expert on the subject. It's like a little white light or speck, only noticable when the tablet is on, and on a black screen. I noticed when the screen went black while downloading a video. When the tablet is off, you can't see it. I'm starting to think that this might be a stuck pixel. Any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Just replied to another of your posts Scott, if it's a sleeping pixel then try this...

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.htc.chris.blackspotdetect

If it's dead, then RMA.

Acronym - Return Merchandise Authorization. You go through a bunch of hoops, proof of purchase, problem verification, etc. and then get permission to return it. Sop -standard operational procedure - these days.

Thanks Jay, I haven't tried the app yet, but I will. The funny thing is, Unless I'm searching for it, I really never notice the pixel. I'm having way too much fun with my Nexus 7 to even notice.

That's fair enough but as a consumer you deserve a fully working and functioning device. Try the app as soon as you can and if it is a dead pixel, contact your point if sale for a replacement.
Good luck.

I would love to know if one of those pixel fixer apps worked.
