OTG and Nexus Media Importer.

Can anyone help? My old Nexus 7 did the recent update. I can still use my OTG with Nexus Media Importer. No problems.
I received my Nexus 7 2 today. This did an update. The OTG with Nexus Media Importer no longer reads any of my memory sticks.
Has anyone else had this problem? Will I have to root my Nexus to read my memory sticks. Something I don't really want to do.
Or is it a glitch with new update or some Nexus 7 2 models. This is the first problem I have had :(

A well-known incompatibility problem with JB4.3
Developer has a work-around on his web-site. 
Perhaps this will be resolved in a future JB release.

I also have this problem. I have tried the workaround but that did not work for me.  I even tried two factory resets with no luck.
