Good news for those waiting for a tried and true root method to appear for the New Nexus 7.  Mskip is a senior moderator and experienced developer on the XDA forums and he's come out with his Nexus 7 Root Toolkit.  You can basically unlock, root, backup, restore, push files, install/correct ADB drivers and more with this toolkit.  There's also a donation version with still more features.  You can get more info as well as download the toolkit but hitting this link.
