Like to keep Gmail account but like to remove Google Calendar

I have not been able to remove Google Calendar from my N7, Jellybean..version4.2.2
My Agenda Widget  Plus is working well but Google Calendar usually shows "no event".  I really don't need two calendars and would like to just remove the Google one but would like to keep my Google Account with the Gmail.
Does anybody know how to go about doing it?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.  Ann

S.Prime:
Swipe down from the top of the top right side of the screen, tap settings, scroll down to Accounts, tap Google, tap your Google account name, then remove the check from the features that you do not want to synchronize, like your calendar.

Thank you for your help, S.Prime!!!
I always appreciate it.

Removing system apps is usually not a good idea. You can freeze them when rooted with Titanium and disable them with the stock ROM but I agree with Prime. Just uncheck the sync. Usually less issues that way.

No need to freeze it, just disable the calendar app...

Pull down the Quick settings, select Settings and then Apps. Now swipe from right to left twice to access the "All" applications tab, scroll down to fond Google calendar and choose Disable. Now the calendar application will no longer appear in your app draw.
