screen freezes required hard reboot (long hold of power button)
« on: September 27, 2013, 12:50:40 PM »
I ordered the Nexus 7 2 days before it was to be released – got it promptly from Amazon.  Worked great until android 4.3, then started freezing multiple times a day.  Did a reset, no help.

Sent it in over 3 weeks ago, Asus sent it back with the EXACT SAME PROBLEM.  I started using it today at 10 and by 10:30 it froze (hard reboot required) – called DAVID at asus who says they tested it, factory reset (back to 4.2) tested again and everything ok.  David would NOT give me an employee number or anything -    WHAT ARE YOU HIDING ASUS?

Connection went bad and called back – Andrew says there is no DAVID at his call center.  Then he says they replaced my touchscreen, to which I said, David said otherwise, and I don’t think you did anything, just as David said.  They won’t preship a new one (I offered a credit card), so I said what do I do for a replacement in the mean time?  NOTHING – I asked Andrew why don’t I just sell this on craigslist and buy a Samsung?  He had no answer or solution.  I’m not the only one with this problem – what is the deal?  NO ONE has any answers.

Tweeted Asus, AsusUsa, and Google, got one response requesting an email be sent to Asus, which I did hours ago.

I've looked on other forums, this is a COMMON problem that others are having, and they have NO CLUE what to do about it.  Ideas, suggestions?

Sorry, but if you ordered from Amazon, your primary return path is to Amazon. You fail to mention contacting Amazon, so I challenge you to produce more information to separate your post from those that are trolling.

Agreed, return it to Amazon. I had problems with my first N7 2013 and returned to best buy. No questions asked it was replaced.

Welcome to the forums. Sorry you are having such issues. I have to ask if this is such a common problem why do you seem to have such a problem rectifying it?  I agree, customer service records can sometimes be sketchy but there is a proper way to approach people on the telephone. You accused a man of lying to you and then threatened to sell your unit and switch to another company. Now you are surprised you were treated like a yumyum. Why didn't you just return the unit to the Amazon vendor? I have had three Nexus units for over a year now. Two generations. Screen freeze that needed a reboot? Once. My fault. Let's just say it was a bad website. Answers? There are many folks here that would be happy to try and help folks that HAVE A CLUE how to ask for help. Hopefully, you find some time to come up from under the bridge so WE, the best Nexus forum on the web can help you.
