Keyboard Clicks
« on: October 26, 2013, 12:39:39 AM »
Hi.  I'm totally new to working with a tablet. This is the first of many questions.  How can I turn the keyboard sounds of my Nexus 7 (2013)?  And where can I find a really easy beginner's guide?  The Google User's Guide doesn't answer my basic questions.  Thanks

Jennifer, matt is correct, but to save you a bit of time, just swipe down from the top, right side of your tablet, then tap "settings" , scroll down and tap "Language and Input" tap  the three sliders to the right of your selected keyboard and you will find the check box for keyboard sounds.

Keep us posted on your progress. Personally, I find the clicking sound annoying, when you have to listen to it in a public location, as someone pecks away on their phone or tablet. >:(

Well said matt:

Your comment reminds me of programming languages which can often be described as verbose or terse.

From my understanding, a verbose language is easy to read and understand, while a terse language is concise and neat, but more difficult to read.

In both cases, they are correct, but perhaps I should be more aware of my tendency for verbose when terse will suffice, thanks for pointing it out.

When I reread some of my posts, they seemed stilted and pedantic. Gone too far the other way now. Don't change a thing!

I tend to avoid the stock keyboard and go instead with SwiftKey

I float with my keyboards. They all seem to have their bugs. I am going to try the new SwiftKey update and see how she runs.
