OTG usb problems

(1/2) > >>

Longcove:
Hi: When I connect an OTG cable with a flash drive my Nexus 7 tablet doesn't see it. It could be the OTG cable so I've ordered up a few more. The micro USB port works for when I connect a usb cable to my computer I can see the Nexus file system. The Nexus wont see the PC file system, it is a one way view - I assume this is correct.
Using OTG Troubleshooter (comes with Nexus Media Importer), the USB Host support is checked and when I plug in the OTG cable with memory stick, OTG Detected is checked. So far so good. But it shows "no USB Device is detected in Android."
There appears to be no reliable fix for this. Some have repeatedly shut down and restarted their tablets and got it working. No luck on mine. Even users with rooted devices can't get it to work.
I looked on the Android Forum and it seems to be a well documented Android problem with 4.3.3.
But I wonder if anyone on this Forum has met the problem - or possibly even solved it?
Perhaps we just have to wait for KitKat and hope.
Thanks.
Donald

S.Prime:
My Nexus devices are rooted and using StickMount, I can mount the usb drive and access the content on the usb drive from my Nexus 7. You are correct the Nexus connects to the PC using MTP, so you do not see the contents of the PC from the Nexus. You are also correct that the quality of OTG cables can create connection issues.

Sounds like you have the wrong OTG cable.

Can you see a keyboard or mouse  with  your cable?  If not I'd suggest the cable is the issue!
