Safe Mode Always
« on: January 05, 2014, 09:01:27 PM »
My ASUS N7 went into safe mode today and I cannot get it out.  I even set it back to factory default settings, but it remains in Safe Mode.  What am I missing?

Thanks,

Sorry for your issue.. Went into safe mode? You say you did a factory reset and you are still stuck? More info is needed. Is your machine unlocked? Rooted? ROMS? I have had three of these and never have even encountered safe mode.

If you made changes to system such as a new kernel, a factory reset won't revert it. It just wipes user data. A reboot should get out of safe mode, if it doesn't you have nothing to lose at this point by flashing the factory image.

To boot to safe mode, hold volume down while powering. Is the volume control stuck or held down by the case? Any volume control app installed?

I thank you who responded.  The N7 is just like it came from the factory except for the few Apps I installed for my wife.  It is now functioning correctly thanks to the observation that the down volume key was stuck.  She had noticed the volume was full.  When I removed the device from the case and rebooted it, the safe mode was gone.  Put it back in the case to verify, and safe mode returned.  Wife is thrilled now which means I am thrilled also.  I have a new hero to look up to.  THANK YOU!

Now to find another case.  Lol. :)
