How to delete backup data
« on: October 13, 2012, 07:55:32 AM »
By mistakes I back up my Nexus on the device itself, as a result it takes a lot of storage space from my 16GB.
How do I delete these back up data so as to regain my storage space.
After deleting these data, I plan to do the back up via my PC so the data will be saved on the PC instead of the Nexus 7
Help

in my Dropbox, it will wipe the whole of your CWM back up folder.
There's some kind of bug in recovery that stops them being deleted, I changed my recovery to CWM from ROM Manager because of this.

Try this

Remember, before deleting your backups from the device, make sure that they are backed up to your PC.  I would leave one current backup on the device at all times, just for safe measure.   This way if you change anything that prevents you from booting, you can always restore the backup. I keep a stock firmware backup with no apps installed.  This cuts down on the space.  With the firmware backed up through nandroids, you can back up you apps and data through titanium to your dropbox or Google Drive. Neither one will take up your storage space.

It's a CWM zip so don't unzip it, flash it through CWM Recovery.

You can run temporary CWM from Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit in the how to root kit,  or flash it from ROM Manager. Then boot to recovery, and install a zip file (IIRC)..

Download the script to your device from the previous post. 'CWM_Backup_Wipe.zip'  should show up in your downloads.

The easiest way to flash anything in ClockworkMod Recovery is through Rom Manager
download Rom Manager here
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&feature=search_result#?t=W10.

When you open Rom Manager, the section on the top will tell you the recovery version that you have installed.  Make sure that you have the latest version of CWM.

The third option down is the easiest method.>  Install ROM from SD card.
select Download/
select CWM_Backup_Wipe.zip

At the "ROM Pre-installation" screen, no options need to be checked. Press ok.
Reboot and Install screen will popup and press ok to initiate the install.
Alllow the superuser request
Your device will now reboot into recovery and flash the script.  If the device completes the script without booting up, press the power button to boot.
