Yes.  That's how I backed up my data & apps before rooting & restored them after rooting.

Same for me.  The tool is designed to work with all Nexus devices and you just pick which one you want to use.

I have not see the source code for the backup tool, but it apparently uses adb and fastboot to temporarily unlock the bootloader, perform the steps to backup the apps and then re-locks the bootloader.

WOO HOO! I did it. I unlocked and rooted. Rev. Kyle's video plus the Forum's Step by Step guide enabled me to be successful. I made one false start, by disabling the Google drivers manually. Once I figured out how to get them back, disconnecting, disabling debugging mode, reconnecting) I pretty much followed Rev. Kyle's video. It went exactly as he portrayed. I had the video loaded and paused it frequently in order to execute next step. So now I can re-install my few apps and downloads, and explore Stickmount, which is my ultimate goal.

Thanks for the Noob handholding. I really appreciate it.

My N7 was unlocked and rooted and working great
After rooting, there is a Busy Box file which I understand is installed during the rooting process.
Today I learn that there is a "Busy Box Pro" apps.
What does "Busy Box" do ? and Do I need to install/upgrade it to "Busy Box Pro" ?

S.Prime can you tell me how to just download NexusRootToolkit.v1.5.2.sfx.exe ?  I know you posted a link but when I go there, there are a couple of different 'download' links.  When I tried last night I got about a half dozen programs loaded on to my win 7 machine and I don't think any of them were the 'toolkit'.  How do I download the toolkit without all the 'downloader' and 'disk optimizer' etc. loading onto my computer?  Thanks,

radio

Go here, and select the "Softpedia Secure Download (US)" choice.

OK, I got the download all sorted out.  Now I can't seem to get past the driver configuring.  My comp sees N7 but it makes no mention of ADB device.  I've tried a couple different usb ports, in front and back of the win 7 tower, but no luck so far...

Right click my computer, select properties and then devices. Find the Nexus driver and right click again, select update and choose from my computer.
May take some time but should update the driver to ADB.

Don't think it'll make any difference to Google Play but have you run SuperSU and updated the binary and have you run Busy box Installer to install busybox?

Not sure why the market won't load, have you tried clearing the Play store cache in Apps?
