Upgrade to Android 6.0 done and now my screen won't rotate?

(1/2) > >>

RobInfinity:
Hi,

My Nexus 7 did an upgrade a couple of days ago to the version 6.0, and afterwards it won't rotate the screen anymore. I never use my tablet in the portrait mode, I always use it in the landscape mode, I haven't found any cases for it that will support it in the portrait position and I like to set it on the table or bed or whatever, so I need it to be landscape.

On top of that, it will only show in the portrait mode with the power connector on the bottom, so if i use an external stand or lean it against something, i can't do it with the power cord connected.

This is very irritating,  does anyone know of a way to make this work?

Yes, I've checked and even turned on and off the auto-rotate. It makes no difference. I've also tried rebooting the device, to no avail.

If it only happened after the update I would try a factory reset.
This thread seems to point to an internal connector issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3193541
Orientation rotation lock bug
You could look for a rotate app. Do games that only work in landscape work?

S.Prime:
Auto rotate stopped working on my Nexus 7 2013 after I install Marshmallow and I remembered using Ultimate Rotation Control on a previous of Android, so I pulled it out of my purchase history, yes I purchase the full license, and installed it and the auto rotation feature was restored. The link to the app is shown below.

Thanks for the replies!  :D

I am skeptical of it being an internal connection since it worked perfectly up till the upgrade happened. Since posting this I have been able to make it go landscape once right after I rebooted the device, but it was short lived and only the one time.

It kind of sucks that I have to add, much less purchase, an app to make this work since it is an integral part of the device, but I am desperate so I will give it a try.

Ok, I've installed the auto rotation app and it looks like it is all working, but I still can't get the device into landscape mode.  >:(
