What's your note-taking app of choice?
« on: August 16, 2012, 09:13:43 AM »
Just got my Nexus 7 last night (very impressed, BTW) and I've been scouring the Play Store for note-taking apps.

On my Droid Bionic, my not-taking app of choice is GNotes because of it's minimalist design and its robust input methods (text, handwriting, drawing, voice, and photo.) And it syncs to either Gmail or the GNotes Web site providing a nice backup and sync across devices. GNotes works very well on my Nexus 7, though it's not a true "tablet" app--it renders simply as a large phone app.

While GNotes may end up being my Nexus 7 note-taking app of choice, I'm interested in your suggestions and experiences with other note-taking apps.

Thus Far it's OneNote.  Integrates seamlessly with other devices and saves them on Skydrive.  Gnotes does the same thing but I haven't actually used it yet.  Since I'm a windows phone owner... OneNote works out great.

I use it more like a reminder or task list, but I really like ColorNote.  Mostly because of the simplicity and 1x1 widget.

I'm trying to find a note taking app that will work in a business environment (aka work meetings etc.).  I would like to be able to us hand writing/multimedia (aka drawing) as needed.

I've tried out two so far

Handrite Note Free
FreeNote, note everything

So far, FreeNote is closer to what I'm looking for.  I think it will eventually be good for my needs, however getting used to switching around the navigation (i.e. handwrite vs. keyboard vs. painting).  It takes a little getting used to.

I also have used evernote for a while.  I am not a hard core users, but i use it to keep notes I know I will want to go back and use/see.  Check mark list for things to bring on Dirtbike trips etc...

If anyone else has a good suggestion for a note app for work meetings where you might want to draw a flow chart and/or quickly circle/highlight things I'm all ears.

Remember that with any captive screen like our Nexus 7, if you plan to use a stylus for writing, the stylus is simply an extension of your finger and the captive screen does not do palm rejection, therefore the screen cannot detect the difference in the stylus touching the screen or you hand. The N-Trig screen available on some tablets, utilize an electronic stylus that disables the touch function when the tip of the stylus is near the screen. If you plan to make lengthy notes on your Nexus 7, I think you will find it awkward and tiring.

Evernote is hands down best note app because of it's syncing ability across multiple platforms. Also the Android app is one of the most polished apps I've seen.

I use springpad it's  compatible with any phone or computer and it can sync all notes with all devices its my most used app to date. I started using it on my Droid 2 to take notes that would sync to my chrome browser but as I changed phones the app still remained useful and with the log in I saved all my prior notes now using it with my N7 is the best for taking notes among other things

Evernote is very popular. Catch Notes is also popular in the business world.

Evernote. I am not sure if you can doodle with it though. I have to check that out.

You have to download the evernote app "skitch" to doodle.

I used Evernote for a while and was impressed at how comprehensive it was, but it soon became overkill for my needs.  I've traded it in for the much simpler "ColorNote" app.  Easy to use, good user interface, reduced clutter.

I use catch notes,  same as evernote but your notes are viewable offline,  works with android,  iphone and web page.  Loads of features,  its a must. And its free

Everything will be alright in the end,  if it's not alright then it's not the end.

I started using Evernote because of all the positive feedback it was getting. I have to say that it freaks me out sometimes because I feel like people are looking over my shoulder while writing notes.
