Hmm. Music on a table?
« on: August 16, 2012, 12:53:00 PM »
I loaded some music files onto my Nexus 7, and when I played them through the on-board speakers, they sounded as I expected: Decent, but tinny like I would expect most tablet speakers to sound. Nothing surprising here.

I had to set it down on the table for a moment, and the sound suddenly went from sounding like a tin can to a more fuller sound. OK, so it's not a Mark Levinson, but the sound quality was noticeably better. Not significantly better, but better.

Anyone else notice this?

Just saying, I noticed this with my Galaxy Nexus - I guess the sound is reflected off the table and that makes it sound better. I've noticed that the more solid and reflective (sound-wise) a material is, the better the sound will be. Ceramic tiles, if you have any laid flat, are great. Wood is also good. Fabrics, on the other hand, completely muffle the sound (so it's worse).
