Welcome to the Nexus 7 Forums Daryl, you've come to the right place for help with your Nexus 7.
Questions should be kept to the appropriate sub-forums but as your new we'll let it slide this time.
The four gold connectors are called pogo pins and will be utilized by an Official Landscape dock when it gets released by Asus, I'm sure they'll also be support from 3rd party manufactures too in the near future.

Welcome to the forum Daryl. Check some of the tear down videos available in our forum and you will find some speculation on the capabilities of the Pogo Pins.
