Which is the best way to uninstall programs?
« on: September 05, 2012, 08:29:41 AM »
Hello.

I'm a new user of Android.

Sometimes I want to uninstall a program that I downloaded from Google Play, tried to use it but found I did not need it. I just want to know which the best way is to uninstall the programs by using the Android Setting function or some uninstallers like "Ks Uninstaller". Do all of them delete all the unneeded files and data cash from your tablet to make the storage room free to use? Is there a way to confirm the uninstall result?

Thanks.

Two easy ways to uninstall

1..Just drag the App icon the the top of the screen ind into the (now visible ) uninstall area.  That's it!

2. Select the program in Google Play.  It will show the program as "Installed" and often provide an "uninstall" option as well

From the home page swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the three sliders and you will be in "Settings". Tap "Apps" and you will default to "Downloaded Apps" scroll until you find the App that you want to remove and tap on it. You will then see the option to uninstall. Tap uninstall and accept the removal of the application.

Hi, SPrime and gp123

Thanks for your very helpful advice.

Now I know how to uninstall applications from my N7.

I just want to know do these uninstall methods delete all the uninstalled application files including data files and temporary cache? In the Windows world, there are some "Clean Uninstaller" applications to help you remove all unneeded files from your PCs hard drive when you uninstall a program. I want to know do I have to find one clean uninstaller app for my N7.

Thanks.

Good question!
I'll bet that there are some artifacts remaining -- as with Windows.

Probably of little consequence on system like N7.

If you look below the uninstall option, you will see clear data and clear cache, which you can tap before selecting uninstall and the only thing that I can think of that may be left behind is an empty folder that the app created.

Thanks S.Prime, I've never thought of doing this simple step, but will from now on.  And thanks bobfuji for asking!
