Nexus 7 User Tips / Re: is it safe...

One more suggestion, don't do it from an unsecured WiFi access point such as coffee shop, motel or McDonald's. Do it from home over a WPA2 secured wireless connection.

Nexus 7 Apps / Re: Passwords

I'll got to sing the praises of Lastpass basic is free and $12.00 gets all the extras. It stores in the cloud and on each system you use it on, each blob of password is encrypted so only you have access to it. You can access your passwords via an app or web browser, it will create strong passwords and remember them for you. I love it and it has the Steve Gibson stamp of approval, don't get better than that in my book.

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Re: public wifi security
« on: September 01, 2012, 09:36:59 AM »
2 things for me about public Wi-Fi 1. Use https for any connection you can (gmail, Twitter and Facebook) it encrypts your connection from you to their server now that at least those servics have at least partially enabled it. 2. Use at the minimum WAP for Wi-Fi encryption of you can influence it, yes I know the local provider has to be the one to do it (hence the "if you can influence it“). Even if all use the same password for the connection each user will be using a different key and will not be decodable by the group. All traffic between you and the access point will be encoded and not in the clear.

Nexus 7 Apps / Re: Camera and Kindle
« on: August 21, 2012, 06:24:52 PM »
Not the original poster but had to chime in on the Kindle app on the 7. I have been using Kindle's since the K1 and currently have a Fire, I have been moving a lot of my internet usage to the Fire and not the Nexus 7. Have had the Fire since Christmas and have been doing most of my email, Twitter and Google+ usage on it since early spring. Couldn't justify the N7 but had to have one (Hey I'm a tech guy) and have had it about a week and haven't picked up the Fire but maybe once or at most twice since I got it. So far the Fire does 2 things the 7 doesn't 1. I have used the fire to read several Amazon Lending Books which you can't do with anything not Amazon. 2. I am unable to view Prime Instant Video (no flash and I'm not ready to jump through the hoops to make it work). I don't expect Amazon to change anything so number 1 will ever work and with Instant Video working on the iPad now I'm hoping Android won't be far behind.

As for the Nexus 7 I love it.
