Nexus 7 Help / Re: Nexus 7 and Flash.
« on: December 15, 2012, 07:32:47 AM »
Flash is important to me as well. I used to build sites with action script so I can appreciate the need.

What are peep developing with now if not flash?? I must have fallen heavily behind.
Is there something else out there that has actionscript or similar?
Or are they moving away from flash because it has security issues?
I didnt think flash would go away, idk of anything like it for animation
and actionscripting.

Go to Settings > Accounts and Sync and you will see your accounts as well as an option to add accounts. Long pressing on an account name gives you access to options for the account, where you can set what you want to sync as well as the ability to remove the account.

I dont know how I found it. There is a Sync icon that looks like the Settings Icon.
Contacts was not checked. Do you know how to get to the Sync from the Settings menu ?
I need to be able to tell others how to do this , there are lots of questions about this
in a lot of other forums. I would like to beable to tell them how to fix it.
Thanks for your fast reply and help.

Go to your apps and tap on People/Contacts and you will find your Google Contacts. If they are not displayed, check the settings and make sure you are set to display Gmail contacts. When composing a new email in the Gmail app, as you type in the address suggestions from your contact list will be displayed for you to choose from.

Just me in the contacts list. I click the icon in upper right corner> contacts to display> ALL CONTACTS has the DOT.
no option at all for displaying gmail contats.
Tried Custom instead of ALL, selected every DOT.

No change. Gmail app does not suggest anything when typing the recipient

Nexus 7 Help / where is my contact list?

Where is my contact list in gmail. I dont see one on my nexus 7 gmail app.
tapped everything already. All websites have info about the problem in web browsers not in the
android/nexus  gmail app.
The upper left corner icon does not make a drop down with contacts like the web browser.
Synching does not help.
typing the contact in the TO field does not bring it up either. >:(

Nexus 7 Help / Re: Am I doing something wrong with gps and navigation?
« on: November 23, 2012, 10:52:00 AM »
Return it. It won't do what you want it to do. There are some offline navigation apps that may work for you, but I haven't found them yet. I tried several, but rely on my Garmin gps.

Search the site for gps navigation, and you may find a suggestion that will work for you. Iirc, they all have shortcomings.

Thank you very much for the fast reply.
Do you know if the nexus 7 with 3g will work like my tom tom ?
I think I can get away with the smallest data plan from at&t , I think  they are the only company that has data service for nexus 7, read that somewhere.. lol.  If I limit my data usage to gps only I  should be able to stay on a minimum plan.

I gave you a thumbs up for your reply

Nexus 7 Help / Am I doing something wrong with gps and navigation?
« on: November 23, 2012, 10:29:26 AM »
I thought the nexus 7 would be usable for driving directions. But it seems to have serious flaws that make it useless for driving directions. It would seem you need a 3g connection to use navigation or a wifi hotspot. Why would anyone need this Navigation program at all, you drive out of range of the wifi and the map may display, but I cant see it for the pop up/wheel of death icon right in the middle of the screen.
I tried google map from wifi and downloaded the map of my area for offline use, but it does not seem integrated with navigation.

I read that  a 3g version is coming out so I guess I have to wait on that device??  Am I missing something???
I can't understand why a navigation app cant work w/o wifi like a simple black and white garmin ?

I need to be able to type a destination from any place in the city , even places w/o wifi, like my tom tom.
Is there freeware to do that or do I need to wait for the 3g version.

Please, if at all possible I need replies soon, I had it about 4 days, the walmart here is funny sometimes on refunds on electronics.

Other than this I enjoy my nexus 7

My current home screen shot.

I really like this one, is it available in a higher resolutoin?

Thank you Chex313, I had to change to the lower frequency in my router.
Pretty deceptive on nexus'  part for not making that info more available.
I personally dont know anyone that still has a router that runs  only at those low frequencies.

Hello,
Just got my nexux 7 less than an hour ago, Pretty disappointed already : (
Everytime it connects to my router it instantly looses the connection and say the router is out of range ><
The signal strength is pegged out full.
my router is configured correctly, all other wireless devices connect flawlessly!!!
I did a google search and what few results come up  have absolutely nothing to do with  connecting the nexus 7 to anything.
Just wondering am I missing something obvious, since no one else is having the problem, or should I just return it right away?

Its not rooted, I dont even know what that is, and I dont care right now!
No apps can be messin with it cuz it wont stay connected long enough to do anything.
The damn thing is usless the way it is now.
