Nexus 7 Google Play $25 Credit Expires September 30th: Get It While It Lasts!

Well all good things must come to an end sometime and it looks like that great introductory offer of a free $25 in credit at the Google Play store for new Nexus 7 owners is about to come to an end.   Yep, that image above is from a post made on the GoogleNexus Twitter account so if you've been thinking of grabbing a Nexus 7 Tablet and want to get your $25 credit to purchase any apps, games, books, music, video or anything else on the Google Play site you'll have to redeem your credit by September 30th...10 days from today.   Now while we're sad to see the promotion go we also know that when one promotion ends...another usually isn't too far behind.  We wouldn't be surprised to see some new perks show up in the future either tied to the possible 3G version of the Nexus 7 that is rumored to be introduced...or perhaps a holiday promotion.

Is there a time limit to using the credit, or does that last until it's used?

Good question CBers.   To be honest, I read over the fine print on the Google Play site and between that and the way the announcement of the 30th is worded I get the feeling that it has to be used up by the 30th.  However I reserve the right to be completely wrong so if anyone out there can shed some definitive light on this issue please speak up!

Straight from "Google Play Promotional Balance Terms, and thanks to martyh for the correction, you have until September 30, 2013, to use your credit See item 4 in the quote below.

C. Receipt of Google Play promotional balance for activation of select new Nexus 7 tablet(s)

If you timely redeemed a Google Play promotional balance offer for purchasing and activating a Nexus 7 tablet, the following additional terms apply to you:

1. Upon activating select new Nexus 7 tablet(s) and completing the tablet set-up process by registering your Google Wallet account, you will receive a one-time promotional balance associated with your Google Wallet account for $25 worth of movies, music, books or apps on Google Play.

2. In order to receive this promotional balance for the tablet activation, you must currently have or create a Google Wallet account on your tablet, and you must also add a credit card or debit card to such account (or already have a credit card or debit card in such account) for use in future purchase and payment transactions with the Google Wallet, by September 30, 2012. This promotional balance is not available for Google Wallet accounts where you only store your bank account or Carrier Billing information as a payment method.

3. Only one Google Wallet account per tablet is eligible to receive this promotional balance. By receiving the promotional offer, you agree that Google Wallet may collect and store the serial number of your Nexus 7 tablet to track your receipt of this promotional balance.

4. Redeemed balances that remain unused in your Google Play account will expire on September 30, 2013.

Unless I'm reading this wrong, it says that UNused balances won't expire until September 30 -- **2013**. That's a whole year away!

Thia was a nice offer by Google when I first got my N7. My son used all of the cash for games :-)

This makes me feel better.  I don't spend on apps often, and I'm not running out just for this if i don't have to.
