I have also given some thought to that, too. I wonder if Lollipop is just a bad OS, or is there some other reason that it simply doesn't play well with the Nexus 7?

I am still using my first generation Nexus 7. I did upgrade the Android OS to 5.1.1. I am still not seeing the performance that I would hope for. I think it actually performed better on Android 4.1! Anyway, for others here still using the 1stGen N7, how well is it performing for you? I think the biggest criticism for me is that it is slow to respond to some things. (Laggy?)

Nexus 7 Android OS (Jelly Bean) / Can I Go Back To Android OS 4.4.2?« on: May 28, 2015, 07:16:02 AM »
I upgraded both my Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 to Android 5.1.1 last night. I will see if there are improvements.
Update: As on 05-30-2015, Android 5.1.1 performs better for me than 5.1 did on the apps that I use. 7

Mine shows Android version 5.1. When I check for system updates is states "Your system is up to date." So, it looks like 5.1.1 is an update from 5.1. How can I go from 5.1 to 5.1.1?

I might have to try that, too. I did the update and mine is also sluggish. I mainly use it to watch TV through DISH Anywhere and Sling. They are slow to start up and often stop working in the middle of a session.
Update: I did do this earlier today and it is quite an improvement. I should have done this sooner! 11
Nexus 7 Audio/Video / Choices For Getting Video Onto 1st Generation Nexus 7« on: January 27, 2015, 09:49:10 PM »
My family and I will be going on a vacation in March. I want to download some movies and other videos onto my Nexus 7 for viewing when I don't have access to wifi. What are currently some of my best choices? Somewhere I read that it might be possible to save some content from Netflix and transfer it to my Nexus 7. Where do I start to learn about that? Also, my Nexus 7 is not rooted and I just upgraded to the most current Android OS.

Nexus 7 Audio/Video / iView-3500STB And The Nexus 7« on: January 27, 2015, 09:06:47 PM »
I did try this tonight, but I had no luck. I am now wondering if the Nexus 7 (1st Generation) is incompatible with the San Disk dual USB drive. Possibly, if it was rooted, it would work with OTG (On The Go) devices.

Does anybody happen to know if I record over the air content from an Iview-3500STB onto a San Disk 32 GB dual USB drive, if the Nexus 7 can play those recordings?

As I posted in another forum, I have been experimenting with video output on my Nexus 4. That got me to wondering if I can do this with my Nexus 7 (2012). I tried the SlimPort to HDMI adapter with an HDMI cable, but I didn't have success. Is video out possible with the Nexus 7 (2012)?
