Nexus 7 Help / Error 920 message on Factory Reset....
« on: March 22, 2013, 05:28:56 PM »
Doing a factory reset on my six month old Nexus 7.

All goes fine till restoring my Apps from my google account. After two
thirds of my 140 Apps it just gives "cannot download due to error 920"
message. From this point cannot manually download from google play
or update apps, that to gets the error 920 message.

I have tried switching off wifi, forcing close of google services app and
clearing data. Have done factory reset three times in a row but this
always happens at about same point.

You guys helped me with a reset four months ago and went perfect. Is
this an android update issue or something.

I am stumped and my vital SKY GO apps is one of the missing ones.

Any advice please?

Nexus 7 General Discussion / My Nexus Brick....

Oh joy of joys.

My four month old Nexus 7 has just suddenly stopped working. It was a bit sluggish this morning,
this afternoon it is just dead with no response at all.

Just checking in case there is a reset or resuscitation method that I have missed ?

Bought from Argos in England so presumably the thing is on a years warranty.

Bit worried though as the stock code for the 16 GB does not seem to exist anymore. Can they
wheedle out of it in any way ?

Works perfectly after about 20 seconds buffering.

This is what we have been waiting for in the UK. Well done to everyone who has been
Keeping up the pressure on the Sky Forums. The England / India Test Mat h starts

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Up To The Hilt....
« on: October 30, 2012, 04:25:34 PM »
after just four weeks I have fillled up my 16 GB N7.

Just under 500 MB left.

My question. The thing has been getting a bit laggy in last couple of days. Not badly
just every now and again. Is the reason that I have used up 97 % of the space on my N7?

Nexus 7 Audio/Video / Volume Boosters / Speaker Issues......
« on: October 28, 2012, 03:19:09 AM »
Hi Posters,

All going incredibly well with my month old N7, and the tips and help from the forum.

Suddenly, it is so much more important to me than I imagined possible and this
Spurs me on to use it carefully, properly and effectively.

Therefore I winder if I can ask advice on the issue of going for a volume boost and worrying
If I am getting a short term gain but maybe damaging the speakers. I installed an App Music Boost EQ and was very pleased to get quite an increase in volume immediately.

So the question is, will this damage the speaker by taking it beyond the preset levels?

Nexus 7 Apps / Tesco, Asda and Morrisons.......
« on: October 20, 2012, 05:13:44 AM »
Hi,

As a disabled person shopping on the internet and getting groceries and
Stuff delivered is vital.

Therefore installing the Apps for all the main supermarkets was vital. Very
Surprised to find that the Apps for Tesco, Asda and Morrison's all come
Up with a message "your device is not compatible". Argos one is fine.

Weird, would have thought compatibility issues would reign only on
Older devices not cutting edge, state of the art gadgets like the N7.

Have I missed something? This is so annoying.

« on: October 16, 2012, 03:22:10 PM »

have a worrying error message:-

"Couldn't fetch licenece (error 800)"

Worked fine yesterdasy and got to 44 minutes now it will not play at all and gives this message.

What on earth is happening ?   Was enjoying he spectacular special effects on this film.

Nexus 7 Apps / The Famous Placebo App......
« on: October 14, 2012, 10:12:35 AM »
I find I have had the annoyance of an App that cllaims to be a Battery Booster but really
is not and is just Malware and Adware.

Battery Booster (2 x Battery) is the fellow.

Actually to be fair to the Author, the permissions very clearly state what this app does in that
it funds itself by malware and adware and it just shows that myself and other should read the permissions you are granting more carefully.

What is more worrying is at the end of the description. In an update dated 11th October the Author very
clearly states that "This App is a pure placebo. It does not boost your battery life. It is a prank App.....have fun".
Have fun releasing malware on your device that is then. The definition of a Placebo is a treatment
that is benign, many would say that this will affect your Android device adversely and is not benign.

So, read the permissions first and be aware of security issues.

Nexus 7 Apps / New Unwanted Apps Appearing On Screen??
« on: October 13, 2012, 06:05:12 AM »
Suddenly without me doing anything, three new Apps are there on my home screen.

Fun Apps, New Apps and Apps. All obviously trying to get me to buy other
apps. How has this happened? Have I accidentally initiated this? Is there
A way to avoid it?

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Trapped In Talkback....
« on: October 11, 2012, 12:07:27 PM »
After a joyful first week on my Nexus 7, I decided to try out some of the Accessibility features.

It all sounded so wonderful, but I ended up for eight hours trapped in the "Talkback" feature. It
seemed I was in a "walled garden" or a never ending loop, totally unable to escape back to
the normal screens I wanted to be in.

To be fair there are warnings given that you are completely changing the way you access your
tablet but it is such a radical change. You really should become totally familiar with your new environment and
how to navigate with it before venturing into it. I simply could not get back to settings to turn "Talkback" off. Did
not at the time fully understand the swipes, double presses and gesture driven commands to do what
I needed to do.

Have others had similar problems and hopefully come up with some easier answers, and maybe a failsafe to
get you back to home base as it were?

The only thing I could think of was a "hard reset", that google gave instructions for, involving holding down
on and volume buttons. But however many times I tried this with the Android figure falling on it's side
I could not get it to reboot. Finally got a randomn gesture to reveal the "settings" icon.

So my questions are if people have an easy answer to this feature and is it a problem that my
N7 would not do the hard reset, does that indicate a major problem?

New Member Introductions / Thanks From Newbie....
« on: October 10, 2012, 07:51:01 AM »
Bought a Nexus 7 on 26th September. Perfect timing to get all the 25p Apps.

Just wanted to thank the forum that I did not have to ask all the hundred or so
boring familiarization questions that one normally does with a new device. The answers
were all here with a quick browse through the pages.

Delighted with the Nexus 7. Cannot believe how responsive the touchscreen is and the seamless
integration between the apps. As a disabled person with very limited grip this and the low weight
are vital to me. The device is on a lanyard round my neck and with me 24 hours a day and the
notifications and audible alerts suddenly have so much more meaning.

Magical !
