Most news I have read suggests this device will not get Marshmallow.  Now today I see a couple of articles that suggest it will...

I wonder... 
At the very least though, I want security updates.

Update:  it is confirmed, 2012 won't get the upgrade.  Security patches will continue, though.

It looks like Google will not provide anymore updates, including security updates, for us anymore.  (If anyone sees contrary info, please share it!)
So...  what do folks recommend as best practices to reduce our risk?

I'm running Lollipop (5.1.1) and see significant performance lag building up over time since last reboot and/or cache partition wipe.  It only takes a few days to degrade.

Does anyone have any performance improvement tips to suggest?
