Nexus 7 Help / Set sound and display settings only stay for 2 hours then revert on their own

The title says it all. Android 5.1 lollipoop...
I turn off the adaptive display brightness and set my brightness manually.
Since lollipoop sucks for muting your device I turn all volumes down all the way manually.
Give the tablet about 2 hours and poof on its own whether being used or just sitting on the table the adaptive display is turned back on and the sounds are set back to what they were before I turned them all the way off.
This really sucks and as soon as I can find a way to ensure game data is saved I plan on rooting and then downgrading to at least kit Kat 4.4.4 unless someone can give me a solution to stop these two issues from happening!!!
Anyone any ideas???
And yes I have factory reset twice now and it still happens. Was putting up with it until it started happening at night and being woken up by Facebook popping notifications... Had to turn those off but need the notifications for american legion updates...
