Suddenly, my Nexus 7 is not visible in my Window Explorer. I run Windows 8.1 with the latest updates. All was fine until the latest update. My PC registers that my Nexus has been connected, it shows in the system tray and in system devices, it just isn't visible in Windows Explorer any more. I have a Windows 7 netbook and all works fine on it. Can anyone help.

Can anyone advise on a simple app for viewing home photos & videos on Chromecast - from Nexus 7 to TV.
Looking at what's on offer it seems BubbleUPuP may be a good start point.

Thanks S Prime.

It's a bit odd isn't it, even the Google Play store are quoting that the new Nexus 7 "Comes with the latest version of Android, Jelly Bean 4.3".

I have a 1st generation Nexus 7 and even that is on KitKat 4.4.2

Does anyone know why the new Nexus 7 2 is being sold with the Jelly Bean 4.3 OS rather than the latest KitKat 4.42

For anyone thinking of buying a new Nexus 7, beware. There is a problem with the touchscreen.

1)Trying to get the tabs to work in Chrome is almost impossible.
2)When using the screen keyboard, characters will repeat themselves several times and it's difficult to stop it doing it.

I have a 1st generation Nexus 7, which it fantastic. I thought the 2nd generation would be so much better. The brightness and clarity of the screen is impressive. The touchscreen simply does not work properly.

I've sent mine back.

Can anyone throw light on the reported touchscreen problems with the new Nexus 7. See the link below. Will this be corrected through software or is it a hardware problem?

Ok, great. Many thanks S.Prime

With the ever increasing threat of malware infection of Android tablets, I would like to know how I could recover my Nexus from a software-damaged condition.

I've considered rooting & creating a custom backup, but it looks a bit scary for me at the moment. For now it would be sufficient to know how to reboot to factory settings. I have backups of all my data. I believe there is a process using the power & volume keys from a cold boot.

I have installed Avast anti-virus but this does not make the Nexus totally safe.

Nexus 7 Apps / Re: File Manager for External Storage

Thanks for your responses.

I have Nexus Media Importer which works well but doesn't seem to be able to export (I suppose the name is a giveaway).

Don't want to root my Nexus as I'm afraid that I might do something to kill it.

Nexus 7 Apps / File Manager for External Storage

Which of the File Managers is best for accessing/managing files to & from an external storage device. I have an OTG cable and USB memory stick which I would like to manage using a suitable File Manager. Will either ES Explorer of Astro do the trick.

hi bjs229, no not whilst connected to the computer. S.Prime has explained how it works & thank you for that. It seems that the file produced on the Nexus isn't permanently filed until the unit is re-booted.

Anyone advise how I can export a Word document compiled using Kingsoft Office 5.3.4 (Free) on the Nexus 7 to my pc.

No problem exporting a Word document from the pc to the Nexus but the pc won't recognize a document produced on the Nexus.

I've tried saving it in all the various available formats (doc. docx. txt & pdf) within Kingsoft and saving it to different folders in the Nexus internal storage, starting with documents with no luck.

Ok! I've answered my own question. Power down the Nexus & power it up again & the file appears in Windows Explorer under the Nexus Internal Storage/Documents folder, which is where I saved it. I'll leave this topic in place as it may help others.

Thanks again for the feedback & advice. It looks like I need to use an office suite & Kingsoft has a good reputation so I'll try that one.

Thanks for you response guys, I'm looking for an app that will allow me to draft short docs such as letters etc. It'd have to be capable of being transferred from my N7 to my PC for me to pick up in MS Word.

Can anyone suggest a simple word processor. Kingsoft looks good & it's come up in a previous post but I don't really want the spreadsheet & presentation functions it includes.
