Nexus 7 Help / Re: Battery calibration/conditioning

It's easy... I popped the back off a DOA unit I got a while back and it is sitting right on top with a single connector.  Should swap in minutes

It's a weird quirk... launch your stock launcher and clear out a couple of icons on the home screen...  not sure why, but I think Google play doesn't know about the 3rd party launcher, so it seems it to the stock one.

What specific tasks?

There are automation apps like Tasker, AutomateIt and Llama... they can control most of the phone's configurations behind the scenes.

I've tried two on the 7; Go and Nova...  I've moved everything I had to Nova though, it performs more like an enhancement of the stock launcher rather than a replacement.

If you like the stock launcher with 7, try Nova.

Nope...  ours is bone stock and it has really good life.  It sips power when off and really only burns through a charge if my daughter gets hog wild with games.  It has burned through a charge once or twice, but that was a runaway process that did it.

I suspect a dead battery because of the battery getting so killed while the 7 is sleeping...  as if the battery isn't charging fully or misreporting it's status.

It could also be a very poor Wi-Fi connection...  a good strong WiFi will sip juice, but if the signal is weak, it visits the signal.

Try this:  charge it fully, put it in airport mode, and leave it with the screen of...  if the battery doesn't bleed, it's your 7's WiFi...  if it still kills it, there is some other source

Really?
That would be a huge invasion of privacy...

Well, you are broadcasting to the world...unless you shield your house, your WiFi router's hardware address is as public as the address on your mailbox or front door.  I am not sure if it's been legally challenged, but I don't think there is any expectation of privacy.

Location services use your mobile data (cell tower you are connected to) or your wifi.

You know all those Google streetview cars? They also index every wife hotspot and wireless router it comes across.  So it looks what your wifi sees and knows where you are.
