Welcome spike70,  Congrats on your new Nexus 7.   There's tons of info here on the forum and lots of friendly folks to help you out.   Just make sure you search around for any solutions first as we don't like to make repeat threads of the same questions if at all possible.  Most likely basic questions you'll ask will already be answered here somewhere.  If you can't find something after searching then of course feel free to post in the appropriate forum.  Happy New Year...and welcome!

Site News / ...and we're back! Sorry for the outage folks!
« on: December 31, 2013, 03:23:18 PM »
Our site and millions of others were down for several hours today as a massive server outage this last day of 2013 affected multiple large hosting services today including those hosted by akamai technologies and endurance international, the parent of such companies as Hostgator, Bluehost and many others.   Thankfully our sites are back up.  Sorry for any inconvenience this caused anyone.  Unfortunately this kind of incident is out of our hands.   At least we weren't alone.  Millions of sites were affected today.  Hopefully we don't see something like this again for a long time.  Anyway...Happy New Year everyone!

We want to wish everyone a Happy And Healthy New Year!
Thanks for making this the #1 Nexus 7 Forum and we look forward to seeing you all back here in 2014!

Site News / Change In 2013 and 2012 Nexus 7 Category Order On Main Index
« on: December 30, 2013, 06:09:59 PM »
I've made a slight change to the Main Forum Index and moved the 2013 model boards to the top followed by the 2012.    I thought this made sense to have the most recent model on top.  Let me know your thoughts if anyone has an issue with this.  I can always change it back if necessary. :)

There's a link to the one I use on the bottom left of the front page where all the accessories are. It's only a few bucks on Amazon.

Here's The Link.

If you missed the sale last month, you can get the awesome Urge Basics Soundbrick Bluetooth Stereo Speaker for 44% off today..only $34.99.   These usually retail for about 70-80 bucks and pump out tremendous sound through a wireless bluetooth connection to your Nexus 7.   It also has a built-in microphone for speakerphone functionality and comes in various colors including black, white, red, blue and pink.  Has a built-in lithium ion rechargeable battery and compares nicely to the Jambox soundbrick which is 4x as costly.   Now this soundbrick is really great to pair up with your tablet because it let's you stream your entire music collection...or even watch movies and video while enjoying booming stereo sound that can fill an entire room or backyard with great bass that even the great 2013 Nexus 7 speakers lack.  Link below

Welcome philbert!  Glad you found us!  Yes, the Nexus 7 is an addictive little device, isn't it?   Pretty soon if you try and leave the house without one you'll be getting withdrawals LOL.   Anyway....glad you're here.

Well we knew we'd be seeing some outstanding deals after the Christmas holiday and this one is one of the best we've seen so far.   It's a 32GB 2012 Nexus 7 for only $124.99.   New these went for $249.99 so this is 50% off.   It's a manufacturer refurbished unit so it comes with a warranty and our experience is that these are virtually indistinguishable from new.  The 2012 Nexus 7 is still an awesome little tablet with its Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and 1280 x 800 IPS display.   It's got that soft touch back and a Micro USB port for charging as well as getting your media on and off the device with an OTG cable.   This is the higher end 32GB model, not the 16GB so you'll have plenty of storage space for all your games and movies.  As an added bonus these units have already been updated to Android 4.4 KitKat so you've got the latest OS!  Definitely going to go fast so grab one while they got em at this...the lowest price we've seen for the 32GB.   Free Shipping too!  Hit the link below.

If like me you sometimes do work on your Nexus 7 and you've been looking for a Microsoft Office compatible program for your tablet then you'll be interested in this latest holiday promo.   OfficeSuite Pro, which is an awesome suite of apps that lets you create, view, edit and print MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents on your Android device is half off for a limited time.  Usually it's $14.99, but right now it's just $7.49.   They even throw in their new font pack for free.  Definitely worth getting if you like to be productive on your tablet.

If you've been wanting to purchase a good quality bluetooth wireless speaker to pair up with your Nexus 7 then there's a great deal going on right now.   Amazon and Philips have two great models on huge discount right now.  The first, the Philips Shoqbox Wireless Portable Bluetooth Speaker with Built-In Mic SB7260/37 (Purple) gets rave reviews and it's 75% off at only $49.99 (usually $199.99).  The model on sale is in purple which really looks sharp but it's also available in three other colors.   You can even pair two of them together to create a left and right stereo wireless soundfield powerhouse.  Pretty sweet.   It's built like a tank too and is weather resistant so you can take it outside, even splash it with water and it'll keep pumping out the tunes.  Even has a built-in mic so you can use it as a speakerphone.

If you want something a little smaller they also have the Philips SBT30/27 SoundShooter Wireless Portable Bluetooth Speaker for only $24.99 (50% off).   This thing is really cool...it looks kinda like a little hand grenade but the only thing exploding out of it is sound.   It's available in a variety of colors including black, blue, green, orange and more.   It also has a built-in mic for hands free calls.   Just toss one of these things in your backpack or bag and you'll have a great portable speaker that gets over 8 hours of battery life on a charge.  And for only 25 bucks?  It's a no brainer.

I should add that Philips makes quality stuff.   The speaker sound quality and bass response is fantastic.  This is not a cheap no name brand that sounds like junk.  This is the real deal.  Grab one or two while they got em at these prices.

Philips Shoqbox Wireless Portable Bluetooth Speaker w/ Built-In Mic (Purple) Only $49.99!  (75% off)

HI there Teddydog,  Welcome to the forum and glad you found us.   There's a ton of info here so do a search to see if your question isn't already answered somewhere but if you still can't find it then post your questions in the appropriate board.    The original Nexus 7 you have is still a very capable machine.   It originally was introduced at the end of June 2012 so even if you bought it on day one you have a ways to go before it's 2 years old.  Should give you a few more years of use if you take care of it and still runs all Android Apps just fine.   Merry Christmas!

What app are you trying to use to open the media files?  If you don't have the right video player it's not going to work.  Also, have you looked in our audio/video board?  There's tone of info there that might help you figure out what the issue is.  http://nexus7forum.com/nexus-7-audiovideo/
